HOUSE SWEATER

        This Tutorial is for the Modification of a Store-Bought Sweater or Vest or Cardigan to look like those used in the HARRY POTTER Movies as part of the Hogwarts School Uniform. There are basically 3 different ways to do it and they are all covered here.

Dark Charcoal Grey V-Collar Sweater OR Vest OR Cardigan

METHOD 1: DUPLICATE STITCH

METHOD 2: FABRIC PAINT

1. Lay the parts to be painted on a Flat surface with something underneath to absorb any excess paint (Newspaper, Plastic). In order to prevent the paint from cracking later, it's a good idea to stretch slightly the area to be painted using Plastic Bottle (for Cuffs) or Cardboard (Bottom of Sweater OR V-Collar)

2. Cover the areas that is not to be painted with the Low-Tack Masking Tape.

3. Start painting on the colors bands carefully, 1 Color Band at a time. If afraid of making mistake, start at the back first and use the guide of a Ruler for the V-Collar.

4. Allow to dry complete, at least overnight.

METHOD 3: BIAS TAPE/RIBBON

1. Prepare the Color Bands by sewing/pasting the thinner one onto the thicker one. If using Piping and Bias Tape, sew the Piping to the sides of the Bias Tape.

2. Stretch the area to be covered with the Color Bands slightly, roughly the size of your Wrist/Waist/Head. If using Sewing Machine, you can stretch it as you sew

3. Carefully sew on the Color Bands.
