MARAUDER STUDENT
 

            When the movie HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX came out, we finally get to see what the Marauder and other students of that era wore at Hogwarts. From the first glimpse of their Hogwarts School Uniform in various Stickers and Collectors' Card to Screencaps from the movie, we slowly get to learn about the various parts that made up the 1970s Hogwarts School Uniform.

            Below, I have some of the analysis I did of the Marauder's Era Hogwarts School Uniform and the interpretation/assumptions I had made about the various parts used. One of these days, I am planning to do this School Uniform, probably allowing some of its parts to be borrowed from other versions of the Hogwarts School Uniform.

NOTE: According to information in HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, the Marauders studied in Hogwarts from 1971 to 1978 (James & Lily are born in 1960)

[A] THE SCHOOL ROBE & HOUSE PATCH

From the pictures currently available, the SCHOOL ROBE used for the Marauders seems to be similar in design to the School Robes used for the Students in HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE and HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS, that is School Robe Version 1.

This School Robe is characterized by being totally Black in Color inclusive of its Lining, and a Graduation-like Round Collar that can look like Fake Hood, attached to the Neckline of the Robe on the front with 3 pleats. And if it does follow the style of the SS/CoS School Robe, there is also Hidden Pockets on the sides of the Robe.

For now, it is still unknown the style of Frog Closure used for the School Robes and the amount used (FYI, SS/CoS used 2 Diamond Ends Frog Closure while PoA/GoF/OotP uses 1 Simple Black Closure).

By looking at Sticker No. 196 in the PANINI HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX Sticker Album (Singapore-CHUANG YI Version), showing a side photo of Lily Evans, we can see that the Lion on the Gryffindor HOUSE PATCH is *WHITE* in color. Between the 2 Movie Versions of the Patch use for students of Gryffindor, PRISONER OF AZKABAN/GOBLET OF FIRE/ORDER OF THE PHOENIX is the one that has the Lion being White in Color. Hence, until clearer photos of the Marauder's appear, we can assume that the Costume Department of the 5th Harry Potter Movie had chosen to use the Version 2 patch for the School Robes.

[B] SHIRT, SWEATER, COAT & PANTS

SHIRT worn by the students in the Marauder's Era seems to be Ivory/Off-White in color so far, similar to the ones used for PoA/GoF/OotP.

As for the SWEATER worn by the Marauder Era students, they seems to be similar in color to those used for the first 2 Harry Potter movies, that is Style 1 Sweater Color: (Dark) Grey.

The Color Bands so far is only seen on the V-Collar of the Sweater and is in the opposition sequence to the SS/CoS Version, going YELLOW-RED-YELLOW.

The Male Students are also seen wearing a Grey COAT that is similar to the kind worn during Tom Riddle era. This Coat is a typical Tailored Men's Suit Coat with 2-4 Buttons on the front.

As for the PANTS, they also seems to be (Dark) Grey in color, similar to the ones used for the Students in SS/CoS and of the typical Men's Pant Style.

[C] ACCESSORIES

The HOUSE TIE worn seems to be very similar in design to the ones worn in the 3rd Movie, PRISONER OF AZKABAN onwards. This tie is characterized by having 2 Thick and 1 Thin Yellow Bars on a Reddish-Maroon Base. The one worn by Severus Snape of Slytherin seems to be more of Medium Green, than Dark Green used for the Slytherin in PoA but it could had been due to the bright sunlight in the scene.

The SHOES worn by the Male Students, they seems to be a typical Men's Formal Lace-Up Shoes, with 5 Shoe Lace Holes and slight heel. Grey STOCKINGS is also seen worn on the Male Student's Feet.

Other accessories seen worn by the students seems to be Pinkish-Red Ribbon by Lily Evans.
